Let me try to describe my last 7 days: 2 countries, Germany and Spain, 5 flights, two train rides, 600km driving through to my father’s farmhouse, and a few bus rides in between. We took the wrong train on a public holiday in Germany and ended up in the middle of nowhere with no taxis!
Talk about an adventure, which at the time does not seem like one, hence why I like to reflect after I’m back so I can find some humor in the crazy moments I experience.
I want to share something that stood out to me on this trip that even my 12-year-old daughter mentioned a few times during our travels. We visited a lot of cities, ate at many restaurants, and spoke to a lot of people. She commented a few times about the great customer service, the friendly staff, the way the ice cream vendor enticed her to buy from his shop when there were so many other options on the same stretch of street. ๐ค
Hearing all of this from a 12-year-old’s perspective blew my mind! If she gets it, then surely we should all get it right! At one point, she said to me, “Mom, all this shop needs to do is hire friendlier staff because they have such nice stuff, but everyone is so grumpy it makes us want to leave the shop.”
Now, how’s that for an observation?
